The Olota of Ota, HRM Oba Professor Abdukabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, who also serves as the Chairman of the Awori Obas Forum in Ogun State, has expressed praise for Covenant University and Living Faith (Winners Chapel) for their significant contributions to developmental projects in the Ado Odo Ota Local Government area and its surroundings. This commendation was delivered during the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government 2023 Maiden Corporate Appreciation and Recognition Awards held at His Grace Event Centre in Ota on January 31, 2024.
Obalanlege specifically lauded Covenant University for its Community Initiative Impact Development (CU-CIID), highlighting its substantial role in the growth and development of the Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area. He mentioned various projects carried out by CU-CIID, including recent ICT training and empowerment programs for 130 Ota youths, as well as the provision of boreholes for markets, transformers for various communities, renovation of the Iju Health Clinic, and the provision of free medical services and eyeglasses during health programs, among other initiatives.
Additionally, the Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo Ota Local Government, Engr. Sheriff Adewale Musa (FCPA), also commended Dr. Oyedepo, the General Overseer of Living Faiths, for the church’s various developmental projects. Engr. Sheriff emphasized the church’s efforts in maintaining motorable roads throughout all seasons, expressing gratitude for their dedication to this cause.
Engr. Sheriff further urged other corporate organizations in Ota to follow the example set by Covenant University and Winners Chapel in positively impacting their host communities.
During the event, Dr. Bolaji Femi, the Guest Speaker, delivered a lecture on advancing the local government through Public-Private Partnership (PPP), shedding light on the advantages of corporate social responsibility for the corporate world. According to Prince Kamorudeen Aina, the chairman of the planning committee, the Corporate Awards of Recognition aim to celebrate the business community and acknowledge organizations that have contributed to the development of Ado-Odo Ota through their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
Notable recipients of the 2023 Maiden Corporate Appreciation and Recognition Awards included Shell Nigeria Gas, Tempo Paper Pulp and Packaging Limited, Cway Foods and Beverages, Nigeria Bottling Company (Coca-Cola), Fidson Healthcare Plc, Veepee, West Africa Gas Pipeline, Ambassador Group of Schools, Ace Medicare, Lions International, Rotary Club, and others.
